MORE OF YOUR VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS
AND MORE OF OUR VERY IMPORTANT ANSWERS!
Q. What happens when I turn up at the salon for my appointment?
A. We are booking clients to ensure as much as possible there will be staggered arrival times. You will be required to wait at the salon door barrier until your stylist or one of our assistants invites you in. Don’t worry we’ll be keeping an eye out for you and can see you’re there.
Q. Do I have to wear a mask or PPE?
A. There has been much discussion in the press about the efficacy of a mask in reducing infection but there is no doubt that the more measures we put in place the more chance we have of keeping our staff and clients safe. So yes, we would require you to wear a mask at all times unless there is a medical reason not to do so. We will be supplying these but feel free to bring your own if that’s more comfortable for you. There will also be gloves available for your use together with hand sanitisation products.
Q. Will my stylist be in PPE?
A. Yes, your stylist will be in a full face visor. Some staff will choose to wear a combination of both. They will be hand sanitising on a regular basis and will practice good hygiene at all times.
Q. What steps have you put in place to reassure me it’s safe to come in?
A. Where to start! Firstly, we have removed 10 styling chairs and will be having a maximum of 5 clients and 5 stylists at any one time. There will be assistants on hand to help where needed but these will be kept to a minimum at all times. Some of the other measure we have in place are listed here:
- 1 : 1 stylist to client ratio – you get your stylist for the whole of your appointment!
- Stylists will be cleaning and sanitising all equipment and tools after every client and we are saving out 15 minutes at the end of each appointment to make sure the stylists have time before their next client arrives.
- We will be using disposable gowns (subject to availability)
- We have invested in an ozone generator for overnight sanitation. This is a very effective way of achieving a deep clean.
- Sadly drinks and magazines will not be available. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and reading material. We have negotiated a 10% discount with Coffee Diem two doors away. You can pop in before your appointment and get your drink – just mention Ruby Mane to get the discount but please, please be on time for us! Thank you.
Q. I’ve heard lots of different things about salons. Are we allowed to use the toilet? I’ve also heard we can’t bring in jackets or coats and bags, is this true?
A. If you could stay seated as much as possible that would be appreciated. Of course if you need to use the loo, you may do so and it will be sanitised after each visit. We have contactless soap dispensers, hand lotion and perfumes have been removed. We were already using disposable towels.
A coat stand for outerwear has been placed next to each of the 5 styling stations for your personal use. This will be sanitised after each client. Please only bring small bags with you. We cannot store shopping bags in the salon.
Q. Are you socially distancing?
A. Following the government announcement of the reduction in the 2 metre rule we have decided to keep to this rather than reducing it to 1 metre plus.
Q. I need someone to come into the salon with me, is this OK?
A. We would ask that you attend your appointment on your own if possible. If you do need a companion to come with you please let us know and we will ensure there is a suitable space for them. Children will not be able to be accommodated in the salon as our waiting areas are not in use and our seating is greatly reduced.
Q. Can I use cash to pay?
A. We will not be taking cash payment so please ensure you have Apple Pay or your card with you. Card machines will be sanitised after each payment.
Q. So does that mean I can add a tip onto my bill?
A. There are many rules and regulations surrounding gratuities being added to card transactions and we have decided not to use this facility. If you wish you could bring a tip in in envelope and place this in your stylist’s trolley. Tips are hugely appreciated but totally not expected!
Q. I’ve heard that we can’t chat like we would normally, is that right?
A. Sadly yes it is. Conversation must be kept to a minimum once your consultation has taken place. This is the safer practice for all. You will notice your stylist talking to you from behind your chair and looking in the mirror. Please don’t think they’re being rude, they are following
government guidelines to minimise risk in hair salons.
Q. Do I go to the reception desk as normal when I arrive and leave the salon?
A. Your stylist will invite you into the salon when she is ready for you. Entry will be by the normal door however, you will exit through the other door to keep a one way flow as much as possible. Your bill and rebooking will be taken at your seat to once again maintain distance and safe practice.
Q. Is there anything else I need to know?
A. We are including a complimentary luxury Kérastase Fusio Treatment with your appointment. It will be prescribed by your stylist especially for your hair and is worth £14.50. This is our little treat to you to say – Welcome Back – it’s great to see you again!
